Habeatat uses food to create social interaction in apartment buildings.

People there often feel lonely and detached despite others living right next door. We wanted to create a tool to connect neighbors and reduce the social distance.

So what better way to get to know to someone, than cooking a meal together or sharing some coffee and cake?

Habeatat is designed to encourage people to share food and time with their neighbors. It is a magnetic board put up in the hallway, showing a simplified house with a window for every apartment. Color-coded tokens with different icons and times can be put in the windows to indicate an invitation.

Residents share experiences and establish an active neighborhood with food being the common language for everybody.
